Five Steps to Social Media Marketing

Is your small business’s marketing plan missing a vital link?  If you are not using social media marketing to find and connect with potential customers you very well may be.  Thousands of small businesses in rural areas have found social media marketing networks such as Facebook, YouTube, LinkedIn and Twitter to be cost effective 21st Century marketing tools that are helping them grow their customer base.  But Social Media Marketing has its own set of rules that a small business owner must understand to be effective.

The Jonesboro Regional Chamber and Downtown Jonesboro Association with the ASU Small Business and Technology Development Center is offering a “Five Step-s for Social Media Marketing Success” seminar on Thursday, May 30th,  from 1-4 pm and again from 6-9 pm at the ASU Delta Center for Economic Development on the ASU campus to help area small businesses & organizations learn how to develop an effective social media marketing plan.

“For the ASU SBTDC social media networking sites have proven to be very effective on-line tools that have helped us connect with small businesses, find new clients, and grow our revenue stream.” said Herb Lawrence, Center Director for the ASU SBTDC.  “The real challenge for small businesses just getting involved is to know the rules of the road for the social media networks they want to use.  No Social Media network is a “silver bullet” that will bring you thousands of customers just because you sign up to join it.  Social Media such as Facebook and Twitter require time and commitment, but the return on investment can be well worth the effort.”

Cost is $35 per person, ($25 for Jonesboro Regional Chamber and DJA  members, $20 for ASU  Faculty, Staff & Students).   Register for this workshop by calling the ASU SBTDC (870) 972-3517, e-mail your registration to asusbtdc@astate.edu or on-line at http://asbtdc.ualr.edu/training/jonesboro.asp.

This workshop is co-sponsored by the  Jonesboro Regional Chamber of Commerce, Downtown Jonesboro Association, First Security Bank, Liberty Bank of Arkansas, Simmons First Bank and Pleth, LLC.

ASU Small Business and Technology Development Center  and Jonesboro Regional Chamber of Commerce to offer Professional E-Mail Marketing workshop at the ASU Delta Center Thursday, June 13th from 1-4  pm and again from 6-9 pm.

Email Marketing Made Easy– will be conducted by Herb Lawrence ASU SBTDC Center Director.  “Email marketing is an amazingly cost-effective way to build relationships that drive business success,” said Lawrence. “In today’s challenging economic times this cost advantage makes email marketing a very powerful tool for building any business or organization.  But…like anything else it has to be done the right way.”

In this three hour seminar Lawrence will discuss how to effectively develop a professional email marketing campaign that allows businesses to target the customers they want to reach, get their e-mails opened, grow a subscriber list, and use Constant Contact software to create professional-looking email campaigns that will have the most impact on the customer’s Inbox.  No technical expertise is needed.

Registration is $35 per person ($25 for Jonesboro Regional Chamber of Commerce and Downtown Jonesboro Association members, $20 ASU Faculty, Staff & Students).  For more information or to register contact the Arkansas State University Small Business and Technology Development Center at (870) 972-3517, email asusbtdc@astate.edu, register on line at http://asbtdc.ualr.edu/training/jonesboro.asp.

–COLSON CASTER REWARDED FOR ENERGY EFFICIENCY
Receives Over $28,000 from Entergy Arkansas, Inc.

MONETTE, Ark., May13, 2013 – Colson Caster, a market leader in tested caster and wheel products, received a $28,021 incentive check from the Entergy Arkansas, Inc. Commercial and Industrial Custom Program for installing insulating blankets on their injection molding machines.

“In addition to the energy savings, the installation of the insulating blankets helped to create a safer work environment for our employees by reducing the surface temperature from 450 degrees to 110 degrees,” said Plant Engineer Jack Birdno. “This one project also yielded enough incentive monies to allow us to do future upgrades to lighting and our air compressor system, which will greatly reduce our energy footprint at a cost of only 25 percent of the total out of pocket.”

The Entergy energy efficiency program helps businesses save energy and money by providing no-cost facility improvement recommendations and financial incentives based on the total amount of energy the improvements will save. The insulating blankets will save more than 1,080,000 kilowatt-hours of electricity per year, equal to preventing the annual carbon dioxide emissions from more than 159 cars, according to Environmental Protection Agency calculations. The energy savings from this project are expected to pay for themselves in less than two months.

“Entergy Arkansas identified a real need for a program specifically designed to assist our industrial customers in finding and implementing savings opportunities via energy efficiency,” said Entergy Customer Service Manager Russell Harris. “We are pleased to be able to partner with Colson Caster on the energy savings projects implemented within their Monette facility.”
